On Monday, January 14, 2019, the members of the governing board approved a course of action regarding open enrollment for next school year.
For the 2019-2020 school year, the governing board will allow staff, who live out of district, to open enroll their children. Currently enrolled non-resident students will be afforded priority based on the open enrollment criteria set forth in board policy (i.e. capacity, programs, and/or services), so long as their application is received by February 25, 2019. New non-resident students may be accepted for open enrollment based on meeting pre-established criteria set forth by the board. The submission deadline for applications for nonresident students seeking to open enroll in the Continental School District is March 22, 2019. We will make a determination of acceptance on or about April 15 with notifications sent out the week of April 29, 2019.
Please turn in all applications to the district office. To obtain an application, please download the form below, stop by, call the district office, or email Monica Molina. Parents must submit one application for each child seeking open enrolled status.
We would like to congratulate our top IXL users! We recognized the top IXL users at our awards assembly on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Please encourage your children to practice and master skills on IXL. This a great way to practice skills, motivate students to continue to learn, and optimize use of Chromebooks and devices. For a listing of the recognized students, please feel free to check out our January newsletter.
Families impacted by the federal government shutdown may qualify for free and/or reduced school meals. The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) has provided guidance for furloughed employees and the National School Lunch Program.
Furloughed employees can submit an application for free and/or reduced school meals for their children. Applications are available in the front office. Use current earnings when reporting salary.
ADE encourages currently furloughed employees to submit an updated application with the change of income when they return to work.
